This work aims to find out the path of development of Russian realistic illustration of the XVIII and XIX centuries. in connection with the development of realism in literature and fine arts. The main task of the work was the desire to acquaint the Soviet artist with the legacy in the field of book graphics, without the study of which it is impossible to assimilate its best sides.
