This volume is published with two objects in view: First, to provide a fitting memento of the World’s Fair for those who made themselves familiar with its wonders and desire to keep its memories green; secondly, to supply the sixty odd million people in the United States, who have not seen the Fair, with a series of pictures that will convey, to the fullest extent made possible by art, a true and vivid idea of the sublimity of the great Exposition, and, as far as can be, minimize the loss they sustained through absence. This volume is published for two purposes: first, to provide a fitting reminder of the World's Fair for those who have become acquainted with its wonders and wish to keep its memories green; second, to equip the sixty-plus million people in the United States who have not seen the fair with a series of paintings that will convey as much as possible, possible through art, a true and vivid representation of the greatness of the great Exposition and, as far as possible, minimizing the losses they have suffered through absence.
