Austrian poet Georg Trakl (1887-1914) is one of the most prominent and paradoxical figures in twentieth century lyrics. R.-M. Rilke, struck by his "Helian" and "Dreaming Sebastian," entered into correspondence with the publisher and Trakl's friend in 1915, noting the fragile looking glass of the poet's world, convinced that he had left with some unknown to us or even an unknown secret. And celebrated poet Elsa Lasker-Schüler wrote: "Perhaps he was Martin Luther, carrying his three-fingered soul in the palm of his hand, embarking on a crusade..." Martin Heidegger, analyzing the Trakl phenomenon, wrote almost his best essay on the nature of poetry.
