Daisetsu Teitaro Suzuki (1870-1966) refers to those people whose influence on the fate of mankind cannot be overestimated. The spiritual revolution of the 20th century and interest in Eastern religions, beatniks and "New Age," the activities of Alan Watts and modern transpersonal research - all this would be completely different if in 1897 this inconspicuous Japanese had not moved to the United States... Most Suzuki books focus on Zen Buddhism, and each time the author considers his subject widely and with an open mind. He never tires of seeking parallels to Zen enlightenment in other Buddhist teachings, in Western psychology, and in Christianity. Suzuki readily goes into dialogue with followers of all religions in order to trace the unity of spiritual experience at all times on all continents. Therefore, we open the publication of Suzuki's works with a book in which he throws a bridge between two world religions - Buddhism and Christianity - pointing to the closeness of the intimate experiences of the 14th-century Christian mystic Meister Eckhart, on the one hand, and on the other, Buddhas, Chinese masters of Zen Buddhism and Japanese followers of Shin Buddhism.
