The book covers the centuries-old history of the Russian autocracy, but the main focus of the author is on the reign of Nicholas II, the murder of his family and its posthumous fate. It is shown that although a hundred years have passed since the execution of the royal family, the problems of regicide remain acute in modern Russia and its present and future largely depend on how they are solved.
