Biographical narrative of Boris Kulapin is dedicated to a man who at the turn of the XIX-XX centuries made a revolution in musical art. Gustav Mahler was born in Austria-Hungary in the countryside, but thanks to his talent and determination he became an influential figure in the musical world. He actually approved the profession of a conductor in its modern sense, developed the now generally accepted principles of the functioning of the opera house, and in the composer field he determined the concept of symphony of the 20th century. Against the background of the almost complete absence of modern literature about Mahler in Russian - about which the author is well aware and writes in the Conclusion - the new "ZhZL" will be in demand.
