This publication introduces a vast group of poets of the 1870-1880s, the most characteristic representatives of the democratic, civil school in literature, whose poetic heritage is undeservedly forgotten and little known to the modern reader. The angry-accusatory and harsh-preaching, soulful-lyrical and humorous poems of twenty-one poets, placed in this collection, paint a rich and diverse picture of democratic poetry of that time.
