This work is the first generalized monographic publication in Russian dedicated to the Khitan Liao Empire (907-1125). The book summarizes the most complete research results of Khitan society based on the study of written sources, as well as modern achievements of Khitan archeology. The history of the early Khitan, the history of the Liao empire, the archaeological sites of the Kiyans, their material culture, economy, territorial-administrative structure, and social system are successively considered.
