The exposition of the Pergamon Museum is presented in three departments: the Antique Collection, the Near Asian Museum and the Museum of Islamic Art. The main attraction of the museum is the Pergamon Altar, after which it is named. The masterpieces of ancient art are magnificent examples of ancient Greek vase painting, sculptures and mosaics. In the Trans-Asian department there are unique objects of the six thousandth history of ancient Eastern cultures, impressive witnesses to the life of the ancient civilizations of Sumer, Babylon and Assyria. In addition to the world-famous monumental Ishtar Gate, here you can see a model of the legendary Tower of Babel and a copy of the stele of King Hammurabi. The highlight of the collection of the Museum of Islamic Art are things from Egypt and Iran: beautiful examples of calligraphy, miniature, ceramics, household items and religious worship, carpets.
