What was served at the royal table in the Middle Ages? The book covers almost all the surviving cookbooks of the Middle Ages, ranging from the treatise of the famous Roman gourmet Apicius to the writings of the court chefs of the French kings. The publication is also decorated with recommendations on which diet to follow. The pages of the encyclopedia contain the first descriptions of recipes for making climbing, ravioli, as well as tips on how to cook snails, frogs, octopuses and jellyfish. The modern reader will be surprised to find that many recipes and the most exotic combinations of flavors, considered the "last squeak" of culinary fashion, were long known to gourmets of the Middle Ages. There are applications in which some of the culinary recipes are shifted to a modern way. From the second part of the book, which included a fragment of the only treatise on cosmetics that has come down to us - "Books on decorating women" you can learn how to find a cure for love disease, reduce freckles, lose weight, dye your hair, and regain your virginity. The book is illustrated with medieval miniatures.
