In the unfinished monograph by Alexander Vasilyevich Bakunin (1924-1999) on Soviet totalitarianism (two volumes from the three-volume book conceived by the author saw the light), some of the author's conclusions are too categorical. The concept of totalitarianism does not exhaust all the complexity and inconsistency of the processes that took place in Soviet society for many decades. However, it to some extent reflects the dynamics of the transformation of the political system in the era of socialism. Undoubtedly, the book conveyed the spirit of the time when it was written.
