Provides information on the technology, equipment and tools for machining materials by cutting. Issues of metal cutting, technological operations of billet surface shaping and cutting tool used in metal working are considered. Progressive and unconventional methods of metal cutting are described. Recommendations are given for rational cutting of metals in the conditions of operation of universal, automated and automatic production equipment. Methods are proposed to increase wear resistance of cutting tool.
