The paper first examined the legal and economic information nature of blockchain technology and its private manifestations, such as cryptocurrency and mining, in Russia and abroad. The functional characteristics of blockchain technology have been investigated. The possibilities of its private and state-legal application are shown, including in the practice of the activities of state authorities. The boundaries of its use are indicated.
