Journalist Sergei Vyazemsky killed in a small southern village. He came here to prepare material about the mystical phenomena taking place in the district. In the dead of night, the journalist was strangled and drowned in the river. A local witch is suspected of murder. Prosecutor Maxim Arkhangelsky does not believe that a helpless old woman moving in a wheelchair could commit such a crime.
