The first volume contains an exposition and critical analysis of the philosophy of modern times, starting with F. Bacon and ending with B. Spinoza. In addition, it includes Feuerbach's "Preface to the First Edition of the Collected Works," in which the philosopher from a materialistic position gives an overview of his previous philosophical activities and "From Erlangen Lectures on Logic and Metaphysics." And finally - the vividly and wittily written "Collection of humorous philosophical aphorisms" - a kind of philosophical diary of Feuerbach.
