Military writer, Major General V. B. Bronevsky (1784-1835) dedicated his work to the Second Archipelago Expedition of 1805-1835 under the command of Admiral D. N. Senyavin, whose goal was to strengthen the bases of the Russian fleet on the Ionian Islands during the wars of the Third and Fourth anti-French coalitions and the Russo-Turkish War of 1806-1812. This work is still considered the most reliable source for studying the history of the Senyavin expedition.
