The volume opens with an article on the origin of the late Byzantine rank of coronation of Vasileus. Next comes the end of the article by A.L. Ponomarev, proposing a new concept for the functioning of the monetary and financial system of Byzantium at the end of the XIII - beginning of the XIV century.
