The first Russian translation of Swift's letters (1667-1745) to his pupil and close friend Esther Johnson (1681-1728). They are in the nature of a diary and are comparable in this with Balzac's letters to Evelina Ganskaya. The "Diary for Stella" is supplemented by Swift's poems and his correspondence with Esther Vanomri (c. 1690-1723), with whom the writer had a difficult love relationship
