The book "The Blessed and Holy Fools in the Icon of the 16th-19th Centuries" contains information about the images of these strange people who are dedicated to eradicating evil in the world. Their behavior, life position, living environment, views, statements, social circle - everything caused surprise both during their lifetime and after their death. Numbered as saints, they became not only historical persons, but also models of worship. But the strangeness of their perception remains. The understatement around these images gives rise to many legends. In the era of the change in the political course of our country from the position of a totalitarian state to a democratic one, every Russian had the opportunity to openly express his moral and spiritual views, and accordingly there was a need for a deeper study of the history, culture and art of Russia-Russia. Together with the interest in the very phenomenon of medieval foolishness, the need for a thorough study of art monuments with images of fools comes to the fore. In domestic humanitarian science, an attempt to comprehensively describe the images of holy fools in the visual arts is presented for the first time. The research material is arranged in chronological order, the country of origin of the monument is taken into account, the stylistic features corresponding to the era are highlighted.
