The proposed edition is devoted to the genres of professional instrumental music of Europe of the XVII - the first half of the XVIII century. Its first (introductory) part contains general information about these genres, as well as discusses the problem of their systematization. The second (main) part is the "portrait gallery" of genres divided into groups according to the typology proposed by the author. Addressed both to professional musicologists and students of music universities, as well as to a wide readership interested in instrumental music of the Baroque era.
