Ukrainian nationalism has a rather long history, which began long before the collapse of the USSR and, moreover, long before Euromaidan. However, it was after the nationalist coup in Kyiv, when the far-right Ukrainian nationalists came to power and unleashed a war against their own people, that the fascist essence of these forces manifested itself in its entirety. Our contemporaries, who had already forgotten the history of the Ukrainian accomplices of Nazi Germany, who burned Khatyn and filled up numerous "woman's yars" with corpses of women and children, were reminded of it by the volunteer battalions of the Ukrainian fascists. The history of one of these battalions, "Azov," followed by a dirty trail of criminality and political terror, was written by political scientist and journalist Alexei Kochetkov.
