The book is devoted to the history of medieval Pskov - one of the major military-political and economic centers of Russia in the XV-XVII centuries. Based on a wide range of sources, including archival ones, the book systematically examines the structure of local society and the impact of public policy on its evolution. Particular attention is paid to the daily life of citizens, service people and peasants, as well as the striking events of the 17th century - the Time of Troubles and the uprising of 1650.
