The genesis and evolution of Russian and Ukrainian statehood, social structure and public institutions, the development of the economic sphere and culture of the peoples of Russia and Ukraine during the Middle Ages and the New Age are considered. The generalization of scientific and educational material, assessments and conclusions are made taking into account the current level of historiography, including Belarusian.
