Aebris is rising, and it's all Levi's fault.While on a well-deserved fishing trip on a choppy sea on the planet Minor Pales, Levi Hurley finds an alien floating on a raft in the water. In order to better communicate, the alien takes on the form of Levi's long-lost son and claims he was abandoned from Aebris, an island to the north. Confused since there are no landmasses on the planet - but also uncomfortable throwing his alien catch back in the water - Levi sneaks the alien on board the Amesware Abyss, a prison mining rig run by the Foreaas Corporation where he works as a supervisory chef.The Amesware Abyss is not the friendliest place for anyone, let alone a strange alien. If it's discovered, Levi fears the worst. Before he can execute a plan to return the alien on his own, however, Levi learns that the rig is to move and be taken over by a paramilitary arm of the Foreaas Corporation.With the warden's permission, Levi and those he has reluctantly partnered with seek to return the alien to its home and deliver a warning about what's to come. But all is not what it seems, and those on the island are anything but friendly. Now Levi must escape before they are killed and the rig is destroyed.
