In order to help milling operators improve their qualifications and theoretical knowledge, as well as to familiarize them with advanced technology and experience of innovators, the Leningrad branch of Mashinostroenie Publishing House publishes a milling library, consisting of individual issues, a list of which is given at the end of the brochure. This issue gives the basic concepts of the milling process and discusses the operation of cylindrical, disk, shaped and face milling cutters. Wear and resistance of milling cutters are also considered and basic dependencies are given to determine cutting forces and speed when processing conventional and difficult-to-process materials.
