The proposed book is devoted not only to the history of development, formation and street names of the oldest district of St. Petersburg, but also to the people who inhabited it at different times. Let me remind you that although the birth of the city began here, the Petrograd side acquired its current appearance relatively recently - at the beginning of the 20th century. The publishing group "Centerpolygraph" and the publishing house "Russian Troika-SPb" have previously published several books about individual territories and highways of the Petrograd side: V.A. Vityazeva. "Stone Island. Historical and architectural essay of the XVIII-XIX centuries"; V.D. Privalov "Kamennoostrovsky Avenue. Four kilometers from south to north along the Petrograd side"; G.Yu. Nikitenko, V.D. Privalov "Petrograd side. Big Avenue." Therefore, in order to avoid repetitions, in this book these places are left "behind the scenes."
