The review was prepared in accordance with the obligations of the Russian Federation to implement the Convention on Biological Diversity (Strategic Plan for the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Biodiversity 2011-2020) and the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). The review analyzed the current regulatory framework in the field of turnover of wild animals, the volume and specifics of trade in certain species, the modern structure of this market, and also formulated proposals for solving the most pressing problems in this area.
