Antonis Van Dyck (1599-1641) - a famous Flemish painter of the 17th century, an outstanding master of portrait, religious and mythological paintings, a subtle draftsman and etcher. The works of the young artist are distinguished by the lightened materiality of the forms, a warm colorful range with restless contrasts of light and shadow, the fluidity of flickering strokes; he gravitated to portraying specific situations and the individual expressiveness of the characters, emphasizing the variety of their gestures, psychological states and characters. He repeated many of his paintings in several versions, which was due to their huge success, which was apparently due to the fact that they were more accessible to audience tastes than Rubens.
