The manual examines the phonetic, grammatical and word-forming features of English social dialects, in particular slang. For the first time, an attempt was made to approach the problem of the etymology of slang vocabulary by analyzing contamination in Germanic medieval glossaries. The manual includes a short dictionary of English social dialects. Intended for students of philological faculties of universities and pedagogical institutes.
