Oldenburg's book "The Reign of Emperor Nicholas II" covers the period 1894-1917 - from the accession to the throne of Emperor Nicholas II to his abdication in February 1917 - and is devoted to the reign of the last Russian emperor and his role in the revolution that broke out in Russia. Sergei Sergeyevich Oldenburg (1887-1940) - professor of history, publicist and journalist, member of the White movement, emigrated from Russia after the 1917 revolution to France, where he had a unique opportunity to study copies of historical acts, taken out and stored in the Russian embassy in Paris as a precaution.
