The book "Walking on Sounds" is a printed version of the radio program of the same name, which has been published weekly on the Silver Rain radio station for more than five years. In the program - and in the book - its author, journalist and critic Lev Gankin popularly talks about popular music (including in this set virtually all non-academic and non-jazz recordings), and both superstars and unfairly underestimated artists become the heroes of the releases: the latter are provided with rare airtime, and for the former, by tradition, a fresh, non-standard review angle is sought. The local goal is to introduce listeners and readers to the maximum number of bright and talented songs and albums; the super-idea is to understand exactly how pop music has evolved in the past half-century-plus and why. Therefore, "Walking on Sounds" is not just a vigorous run through your favorite hits, but an attempt behind each of them to see a specific human fate, as well as to fit them into the social and cultural context of the era.
