The characteristics of charge and refractory materials used in the converter production of steel are given, the design and design of convectors, their preparation for operation and their maintenance during operation are considered; issues of mechanization and automation of oxygen-converter production are covered. The main focus is on the theory and practice of the oxygen-converter method of steel production. The method of technological control of the steel smelting process is described, issues of the quality of the metal obtained are considered, abnormalities in work at all sections of the workshop and measures to combat them are described. Concepts of safety and industrial sanitation of the converter shop are given.
