The collection of the Russian Soviet poet A. Mezhirov includes the best lyric works from previously published collections. Mezhirov's poetry is most often perceived in its everyday, real-everyday plan. Any everyday case, as a rule, is described in detail and seems to be unnecessarily detailed. Spiritual and moral sensitivity allows Mezhirov to perceive equally deeply both the "music" of epic, national unity during the years of the great war, and the "music" of individual human destinies, mainly female ones. The third period in the work of Mezhirov, passing under the sign of deepening the spiritual principle and tragic paradoxism, differs from previous periods in severe asceticism, dryness and rigidity in depicting the subject world and human relationships, the desire to squeeze out as much "moisture" as possible from "raw" reality, exacerbation of the antithesis between "prose" and "poetry" of life, real and ideal.
