This book is not a chronicle nor was it meant to be. It is not any dictionnaire raisonnee either, pretending to grasp as a whole the subject of the mutual relationships between the inhabitants of the Commonwealth of Poland of the Netherlands (both South Netherlands, usually known in Poland as “Belgia” and North Netherlands, even today notoriously, however inaccurately called “Holandia”) in the 16th and 17th cc.These relationships and acquaintances were ofvarious kinds: they included personal, sometimes incidental contacts, visits, academic peregrinations, friendships, disputes, correspondence, literary similarities, homologies or influences of divergent nature and value, etc.
