This book, dedicated to the dramatic events of the summer and autumn of 1941, has two authors - Marshal of the Soviet Union F.I. Golikov and Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor V.A. Anfilov. Until November 1941, F.I. Golikov was the head of the Intelligence Service of the General Staff of the Red Army; in the days of the Battle of Moscow, he is the commander of the 10th Army of the Western Front and the 4th Shock Army of the Kalinin Front. Colonel V.A. Anfilov is an active participant in the Great Patriotic War, the author of a number of military-historical works. Combining the works of two authors written in different genres - strictly scientific, research (Anfilov) and memoir (Golikov) - gave a new quality.
