Outlines the foundations of one of the modern directions of computational mechanics, which aims to automate the study of complex mechanical systems using computers. Elements of matrix analysis (differential calculus of vector matrix functions), techniques for its use in the geometry of configuration manifolds of mechanical systems and the application of the developed matrix-geometric apparatus to solving the main problems of dynamics are presented.
