The book tells about the history of Russian cuisine, dishes, utensils, about the traditions of the Russian feast. Based on the study of materials from annals, monastic charters, canteens of the Moscow nobility, "Domostroya," "Murals of Royal Dishes" and other sources, recipes and technology for preparing forgotten dishes, quantitative values ​ ​ of ancient measures of mass and volume of liquid and bulk products were recreated, the origin of the names of dishes was determined, historical parallels with modern cuisine were drawn.
