The monograph provides an analytical review of publications on recently discovered fleeting optical-electrical phenomena - MY. They are observed in the atmosphere layer from the upper boundary of powerful convective clouds to the ionosphere. Information on the physics of lightning as one of the MY is presented, as well as a method for calculating the strength of the electric field of the atmosphere, taking into account the charges induced in the ionosphere.
