Atlas of the Caves of Russia is the first publication covering in detail the distribution and structure of the largest and most interesting caves throughout the country. Created by a team of almost 100 authors, it contains descriptions of caves of various types, including karst, lava, glacial, gravitational, wave damage, etc. Information is given about geology, mineralogy, glaciology, archeology, paleontology, biology and origin of caves, the history of their discovery and research. The atlas is intended for the widest range of readers and at the same time will be of interest to professional specialists. It is illustrated with 950 photographs, contains 168 topographic surveys of caves, more than 30 tables and 60 maps and diagrams. Atlas was published on the initiative and with the financial support of the Russian Geographical Society. In the process of its preparation, the information and search system "Caves" was used, created under the auspices of the Russian Geographical Society and containing information about 5 thousand caves in Russia and neighboring countries.
