The creation of a maneuverable multi-mode fighter aircraft is a complex multidisciplinary scientific and engineering task. Its solution is based on the achievements of many scientific and technical areas, among which the aerodynamic design of the aircraft is decisive - the creation of its aerodynamic layout. The presented work summarizes the experience of aerodynamic design of multi-mode fighter aircraft at the Sukhoi Design Bureau and justifies a systematic approach to the implementation of a set of necessary scientific research and the adoption of scientifically sound technical solutions when creating an aerodynamic layout of aircraft of this class in order to increase their degree of aerodynamic perfection.
