An historical fiction novel set in the seventeenth century, inspired by real events when pirates raided the village of Baltimore on the south-west coast of Ireland, capturing most of the inhabitants and forcing them into slavery in Algiers. The year is 1631 and John Seymour makes his living from fishing. Still mourning the loss of his wife, John struggles to raise a young daughter alone.
