The experience of various industries and major manufacturers of thermal cutting equipment is systematized. Progressive methods of materials separation are analyzed, criteria for their comparative evaluation are proposed. Physicochemical features of oxygen, plasma, laser and hydroabrasive cutting, as well as hybrid methods of materials separation are considered. Analysis of calculation methods, computer models and software for selection of laser cutting parameters is proposed.
