Professor V. V. Perkhin's new monograph explores the "Vekhov" origins of A. N. Tolstoy's ethical and political views and their place in his creative position and relations with the leaders of the Bolshevik government in Soviet Russia I. V. Stalin and V. M. Molotov, with such statesmen as N. I. Yezhov, P. N. Pospelov, N. M. Shvernik, B. Z. Shumyatsky, M. B. Khrapchenko. A wide range of sources from state archives and documentary publications of modern times, from Russian Soviet and foreign periodicals, as well as the foreign press were used. The appendix presents a set of responses from writers and literary critics to the death of A. N. Tolstoy.
