The tutorial discusses the importance of the documentation process, its place in the software creation process, and the work of the technical writer. Various types of program documentation and existing Russian and international standards, the knowledge of which is necessary for a technical writer, are considered. In conclusion, a brief description of modern publishing systems and CASE-tools used to create documentation of various levels is given.
