The disappearance of the Soviet four-engine aircraft URSS H209 and its six crew members led by Sigismund Aleksandrovich Levanevsky in August 1937. in the North Pole area remains one of the unsolved mysteries of the 20th century to this day. The missing car and its pilots were actively, but unsuccessfully searched for in the first months from the moment the radio communication ceased until the spring of 1938. Then, with no certainty of finding the vanished plane, the official search was called off. It was admitted that the URSS-H209 crew, trying to connect Moscow and New York with an air bridge, fell victim to the most difficult weather conditions and insufficient perfection of aviation equipment. Many thousands of kilometers to the site of the alleged tragedy in the most inaccessible area of the earth's surface did not give up hope of finding the disappeared plane, moreover, it did not allow ever to hope for the resumption of search operations.
