The book is a historical miniature about the fate of representatives of the Nesvizh branch of the powerful magnate clan Radziwill. Nesvizh Radziwills occupied the most important government posts in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, had huge land holdings. In fact, due to their power, they were uncrowned rulers of the state.
