More than three hundred years after Dante, Europe saw in the Station one of the greatest poets, and thus, for more than one and a half thousand years, Publius Papinius Statius was an impeccable poetic authority for Europeans reading Latin. The publication included the work of Statius "Thebaid" in twelve books.
