Mundane astrology (from the Latin mundus meaning world, universe, humankind) is the branch of the celestial science dealing with political and world events. Heads of nations have consulted mundane astrologers for thousands of years. This form of astrology, for example, was a key factor in Alexander the Great's defeat of the Persian Empire's army at Gaugamela in 331 BC.This e-book looks at political astrology as it was practiced at the beginning of the 20th century. Raphael (Robert T. Cross) wrote one of the most influential texts on the astrology of states and nations at the beginning of the 20th century. Using Raphael's brief 1910 text on mundane astrology as a scaffold, the author has revised, corrected and illustrated Raphael's original volume with copious explanations, clarifications, case examples, and modern astrological charts. The Appendices contain a wealth of supplemental information that fleshes out Raphael's 80-page booklet on world astrology, now in the public domain and adds an historical perspective to Raphael's approach. In his discussion of the Sibly chart for the US Declaration of Independence, Louis suggests that Ebenezer Sibly chose a symbolic time for his USA chart on the basis of the 18th century understanding of mundane astrology. Thus, the Sibly USA chart is yet another symbolic chart for the inception of the United States as a nation.
