American writer and conservationist James Oliver Kerwood was born in 1878 and lived only 49 years: while fishing, he was bitten by a spider, which led to blood poisoning. During his short life, Kerwood wrote more than 30 novels and left a long and kind memory: Michigan has a mountain named after him and a museum where a festival is held in honor of the writer.
