Kovalevsky Maxim Maksimovich (1851-1916] - Russian historian, lawyer, sociologist, ethnographer, politician, academician of the Petersburg Academy of Sciences (1914). In 1887, Kovalevsky, who had a reputation as a dangerous radical, had to leave the department and went abroad again, where he lectured in Stockholm and Oxford. Here were written his main works "The Origin of Modern Democracy" and "The Economic Growth of Europe before the Emergence of Capitalist Economy."
